The Teatro Ciudad de Marbella is offering a range of exceptional dance programmes during November and early December.

Firstly this Saturday it’s the turn of flamenco with the XIII Festival Flamenco Sierra Blanca which features four singers and five dancers as well as a number of accomplished musicians performing a selection of classic flamenco numbers.

Tickets for the event which starts at 9pm cost €10.

Then on December 1, there will be an unusual and innovative show, Journey to the Centre of the Earth inspired by the novel by Jules Verne.

Two sisters, Eva and Ava, decide to follow in the footsteps of an ancestor of theirs to Iceland, where they find Hans, the guide who will lead them on a journey to the centre of the planet.

This is an adventure in which the dancers discover incredible beings and landscapes, as well as reminding the audience of the need to protect the environment.

Tickets for this show cost just €6 and it is recommended as being ideal for youngsters over the age of seven.

As its coming Christmas, it’s the best time to see The Nutcracker with music by Tchaikovsky which is based on a short story, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King and is perhaps the best known of his ballets thanks to The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and The Waltz of the Flowers.

As it is Christmas there is a large party at Clara’s house and all the children receive a gift and hers is a beautiful Nutcracker doll.

Whilst the whole family sleeps, Clara and her Nutcracker Prince, after defeating the army of the King of the Mice, will travel to distant lands, have fun with magical snowflakes and sweets from different countries that will dance for them.

This ballet will be presented by the Association of Ballet y Artes Escénicas de la Costa del Sol and starts at 6pm with tickets costing €15 but be aware that all spoken commentary will be in Russian and Spanish.

Tickets for each performance can be purchased online from the theatre.
