Schools and Childcare in Marbella

Your children are very important, and they deserve a quality education in Marbella. There are schools and childcare services that meet the highest expectations, and many of these schools are bilingual.

EIC School

Students sit IGCSE and GCSE examinations in Year 11 and those who qualify to enter the Sixth Form study for AS levels and A2 (A) level examinations in preparation for university entrance at 18. Although the predominant language is English, being the first language of 80% of our students, the remaining 20% presents us with a most valuable diversity of cultures and nationalities.

Swans International School – Marbella

Swans International School is an extremely well established centre of excellence for children of 3 to 18 years old. Founded in 1971, Swans combines strong values and tradition with innovative teaching and modern technology.

The school offers the British curriculum to GCSE, International Baccalaureate at key stage 5 and the statutory Spanish primary and secondary curriculum.

All of their fully qualified teachers are dedicated to enhancing the learning of every student in their care.

During the summer term this year the school will host many events to celebrate the 40th aniversary including a special commemorative yearbook, a balloon launch and a lavish party at the Palacio of Congresos in Marbella.

Marbella Design Academy – Marbella

The Marbella Design Academy, founded in 1995 is a state-recognized international academy in partnership with Middlesex University, that offers official BA (Hons) Degrees awarded by Middlesex University on completion of the 3 year programmes in: Interior Architecture, Graphic Design and Fashion Design.

With many years of experience and a young, dynamic, professional team of tutors, it is no wonder the Marbella Design Academy has an academic level that rivals design schools all over the world.

Located in Monda, the academy is well catered for and the stunning purpose built facility complies with all that is needed and demanded of a modern design academy.

All classes are held in English and the Academy accepts students from all over the world. Students mainly live in rented apartments in Marbella or Monda.

The Marbella Design Academy graduates have an employment rate that is close to 100 per cent. The Academy educates professional designers at the highest level. When graduated the students are awarded a BA (Hons) Degree by Middlesex University.

The British School of Marbella – Marbella

Located in the centre of Marbella, The British School of Marbella can be easily accessed from the the A7 and N340 roads.

Part of The British Schools Group, an organisation aiming to promote quality British-style education world-wide with almost 1500 students and over 300 employees, The BSM meets English National Curriculum standards.

The campus for the Britsh School of Marbella is modern with facilities on offer to students matching that of any top international school. Age appropriate, safe and enjoyable, the facilities are of a high quality and enhance they education that the school provides.

All of the classrooms are generously equipped and the school makes use of state-of-the-art technologies such as Interactive Whiteboards. There are also specialist classrooms including an ICT suite, a music room with small theatre, a library, and a large multi-purpose hall. Each classroom has it’s own class library but there is also a well resourced library with a varied range of books imported from the UK, computers and reading areas, to encourage a love of books.

Outside, the BSM has two playgrounds that combine a selection of climbing frames, rubber and hard-court surfaces and a clear differentiation between children of different ages.

Montessori School – Marbella

Montessori pride themselves in providing a fun, practical approach to education where each child follows their own personalized learning programme, tailored to their own individual ability and from where they grow to become confident and independent life long learners.

All tuition and guidance is delivered in English. For non-native (English) children, additional EAL support is provided and there is an optional Cambridge English after-school club.

They consider their school to be unique in all that they do and whilst their utmost priority is to provide every possible opportunity for each and every child to reach their full academic, social and physical potential, they also wish them to leave with fond childhood memories that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. Children are nurtured to become independent, self-confident and responsible individuals who follow traditional values of respect, honesty, empathy and global awareness whilst acquiring a life long love of learning.

The International School Estepona – Marbella

The International School Estepona provides a friendly, happy and stimulating environment for children from 2-12 years creating a caring, welcoming community for children, which will enable them to feel happy, secure, independent and special.

They work closely with parents and provide a broad and balanced curriculum which fosters the intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of each child.

The School follows The British national Curriculum and has been inspected by NABSS (National Association of British Schools in Spain) and approved by The British Council and The Junta de Andalucia.

The School has excellent facilities such as an all weather sports facility and digital smart boards in the class rooms. The School is also fully air-conditioned and heated for all year comfort.

The children are taught according to The British National Curriculum which will allow any child to fit seamlessly into another British School in the future whether it is in Spain or overseas. The children also have Spanish lessons every day. The Montessori System is practised in The School in the early years but the ethic prevails throughout the Upper School.

A strong link exists between the parents and teachers. Parents are always welcome in the school and teachers are happy to discuss the child’s progress.

Laude School – San Pedro International College

Laude San Pedro International College is a British co-educational school of around 780 students from over 52 countries. It is housed in relatively new premises and boasts outstanding, spacious, architect-designed accommodation. The installations and facilities for learning, sports and arts are considered the best in any school in this part of Spain. Constructed in 2004, it is now a part of the prestigious International Schools Partnership. ISP is a well-known name with a strong reputation in Spain and the UK, and its involvement and support brings tremendous advantages to the School.

English is the language of communication in the School, and principally the language of instruction. Having said that, their commitment to Spanish language and culture is particularly strong, and most of their communications are publicity available in both English and Spanish. We celebrate Spanish culture as part of our commitment to developing global and multicultural values in our students and a sense of international citizenship.  

Among the strengths of the School, which sets it apart from many others, is the student-centred and holistic approaches to learning that recognises and employs whole-brain, multiple-intelligence teaching methods.  The teaching faculty is carefully selected, enjoys continuous professional development opportunities and undergoes regular professional appraisal. All are trained and qualified graduates and specialists in their fields. Information Technology for learning is at the forefront of our 21st century approach to schooling, and all of the classrooms and learning spaces are equipped with video projectors, and most of them with digital whiteboards. Student use of laptop computers is encouraged and an extensive wired network extends throughout the facilities.

Swedish School

The Swedish School offers preschool (3-5 years), preschool (6 years) and primary school grades 1-6 (7-12 years) according to the Swedish curriculum but also complementary Swedish for students with Swedish connections studying at other schools. We are approved by the Swedish National Agency for Education and holds all the necessary permits for Spanish driving school activities. School strengths; Great fellowship and good social climate Professional and dedicated staff Good physical and social learning environment Responsive, flexible and prone development organization -, Our school has a swimming pool, it has a wonderful garden with nice schoolyard, football, ping pong table, a small playground and a chill area.

Aloha College – Marbella

Aloha College is an independent non-profit making school situated just on the outskirts of Marbella. It was founded in 1982 and is the first international bilingual school to be available in Spain. Students from 3 to 18 years of age will learn both English and Spanish and gain qualifications that will allow them to go to the world’s best universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Princeton, Madrid, Navarra, and Imperial College London.

The school is a day school and educates students from over 46 nationalities. There are currently around 750 pupils at the college and college statutes limit class size to a maximum of 20 pupils, and with a pupil to staff ratio of better than 10 to 1, most classes are considerably smaller.

Aloha college really is one of the best on the Costa del Sol, it has all the best facilities to really give your child the start they need.
